Frequently Asked Questions
What are your qualifications?
I am an Ayurveda Practitioner, having qualified from the Ayurveda Institute UK under the guidance of Dr Deepika Rodrigo B.A.M.S and Dr Wathsala Wijesinghe B.A.M.S, MSc, M.D.
I’ve completed 2.5 years of study starting with the 12 months Ayurveda Lifestyle and Nutrition Level 1 course followed by the Ayurveda Practitioner course, a level 2 advanced 18-month intensive program. This course involved over 1000 hours of teaching, with specialist Ayurveda Medicine training to treat a range of disorders. The course included herbal medicine lectures, Sanskrit lessons, case studies, personal research, and a final exam, which I passed with High Distinction.
How long is each consultation?
Your initial consultation with me will last 60-75 minutes, and follow-up sessions are 30 minutes.
How often will I need to have a consultation?
Consultations are recommended every 3-4 until you see your symptoms clear. It’s difficult to give an exact timescale as each person is unique. However in my experience my patients see good results in 2 – 4 months. Consultations are 3-4 weeks apart to allow your body sufficient time to go through a cycle, enabling nutrition to reach the 7 layers of tissues in your body (plasma, blood, muscle, fat, bone, bone marrow, seminal fluid). This timeframe allows us to assess the effectiveness of the treatment plan and make necessary adjustments.
What typically happens in a consultation with you?
Your first consultation will include an extensive personal and medical history. Questions will start like your typical doctor’s appointment, followed by questions about your diet, occupation, lifestyle, activities you take part in, and so on. If I see you in person I will take your pulse and look at your tongue, if I see you online I will ask to see your tongue and perhaps send a photo. At the end of your consultation I will give you a detailed diet sheet, remedies and herbal medicine. You will be sent details of this via email so there is no need to take notes. You can read more about what to expect in a consultation here.
How much does a consultation cost?
Initial consultations are priced at £60, with follow-ups at £35. Package deals are available: £170 for 5 sessions and £120 for 3 sessions. Herbal medicine costs are additional.
How much does herbal medicine cost?
The cost of prescribed herbs varies based on individual needs. As an example, a basic package of 3 herbs costs approximately £32, and six herbs are £65 for a 3-4 week supply. Postage and packaging for online consultations will be calculated and arranged, with an invoice sent after your consultation. Herbs will be dispatched upon payment.
How many consultations will be needed?
The number of sessions required varies for each individual based on symptoms, conditions, and your commitment to making dietary changes and taking herbal medicines. I recommend at least 5 sessions or until you observe a positive change. Follow-up sessions can be booked for check-ups, seasonal changes, or new symptoms.
I’m seeing a Doctor / Consultant / taking medication, is this suitable for me?
Absolutely. I often work with patients who are also seeing their GP or consultant. Whether your goal is to reduce medication or seek additional support, I tailor my approach to compliment your specific health needs. For example I’ve worked with clients going through surgery, patients who want to come off contraception or HRT and balance their hormones naturally.
Will there be restrictions and a strict diet regimen?
There will be some restrictions however, during our time you’ll find a sense of freedom rather than restriction. By being taught about your unique mind, body type and what with a for you. You’ll be able to release any pressure of what is healthy and identify those foods that nourish your unique body and let go of those that cause imbalances.
What experience do you have?
I have a decade of experience as a therapist working in my own private clinic treating patients. Meaning I’ve worked hands on and 1:1 with hundreds of clients and different conditions. I’ve been working with a combination of hands on treatment (Kinetic Chain Release (KCR), Connective Tissue Release (CTR) Ayurveda and Yoga Therapy) while doing additional study and research. My focus is now on joint health (specially hip and lower back pain) women’s health (regulating menstrual cycles, fertility, postpartum, menopause) improving digestion and mental health.
Whats Commitment is involved?
You’ll have consultations every three weeks that are 60 – 75 min consultation with me plus x4 30 min consultations
You’ll be required to spend 10-30 minutes each day to add in yoga practices, Ayurveda lifestyle practices but we’ll discuss what time commitments you are able to commit to.
You’ll take herbs daily before and after meals
Be open and willing to make changes and be patient with your expectations
What is your cancellation policy?
You will be sent a confirmation email, you are able to reschedule and cancel by clicking on the Change/Cancel Appointment link in your confirmation email.
Absolutely, please cancel or reschedule your booking no less than 24hrs before session start time, or session will be charged at the full price. Thank you for respecting our time.
