Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)
Pain Relief, Sports Injuries, and Alignment
Biggar, SoutH Lanarkshire / West Lothian
If you’re dealing with hip pain, lower back pain, sciatica, postural imbalance or recurring tightness, Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is one of the most effective full-body treatments available.
What is Kinetic Chain Release (KCR)?
KCR is a structured, hands-on method that realigns the body by addressing the entire kinetic chain — the sequence of joints, muscles and connective tissue that determines how efficiently you move.
Â
Think of it as an MOT for your body. When one part of the chain becomes restricted — through injury, surgery, strain or long-term posture habits — the body compensates. Over time, that compensation leads to pain, stiffness, imbalance and fatigue.
Â
KCR corrects the imbalances. It treats the whole body — not just where it hurts.
Â
Developed by Scottish Physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert, Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is a scientifically proven full-body treatment that restores alignment, relieves pain, and supports faster recovery
OUR STORY
We came to KCR because we needed it — long before we ever offered it to anyone else.
Jo was struggling with hip pain and facing surgery. After spending a lot of money on different treatments with limited change, KCR was the first approach that genuinely reduced the pain.
Kev tried it after a shoulder injury that had stopped him playing rugby and wasn’t improving with anything else. After one session, he was back on the pitch that weekend — pain free.
We trained in KCR initially to help each other. Then friends and family. Word spread. What started as something personal grew organically into the work we do today. That’s why it remains at the foundation of everything we offer.
Who People Notice After KCR?
Clients commonly report:
- Reduced pain and stiffness
- Improved balance and posture
- Easier, freer movement
- Better breathing
- Deeper relaxation
- Improved sleep
Some feel change immediately.
For others, the improvement builds over a few sessions as compensation patterns unwind.
Who Can Benefit From KCR?
Kinetic Chain Release can help with a wide range of conditions, including:
Back pain, neck pain, shoulder tension
Sciatica and hip pain
Sports injuries and repetitive strain
Postural issues and poor alignment
Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue
Migraine, jaw tension, and teeth grinding
Digestive and breathing difficulties (IBS, bloating, shallow breathing)
Sleep issues, stress, and emotional tension
Our clients range from office workers and athletes to mums, manual workers, and those recovering from injury or surgery. If you feel misaligned, in pain, or simply “out of balance,” KCR can help you reset.
What Happens During a KCR Session?
You remain fully clothed while we guide your body through a structured sequence of:
- Gentle joint mobilisations
- Fascial and soft-tissue release
- Leg-length balancing
- Postural corrections
- Assisted stretches
The sequence begins at your feet and works through the whole body. This is what makes KCR different. Most treatments focus only on the painful area. KCR treats the whole body.
The body works as one system. When one area isn’t doing its job properly, another area picks up the slack — and that’s often where pain can surface.

Having been treated many times by Kev in the past, it is a no brainer when looking for treatment for my back & hip complaints. I just need to make sure I don't leave it as long between visits. Watching some of Jo's videos give me things to take & try at home, to help with my tight muscles & joints. Just to update. Still visiting for treatments, but really need to make it more regular, and practice the movements that Jo posts online. Still a great personal service.Posted on Google Samantha HudsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. A lovely, welcoming vibe in a lovely studio. Every health programme assumes you’ll have a good week
Every health programme assumes you’ll have a good week. Real life doesn’t work like that. Here’s the three-mode system — Basal, Tend and Repair — I use with clients so a bad fortnight doesn’t end the whole thing.

My Broken leg Sounded Like a gunshot! 20 years on; it shaped my future
My Broken Leg led me to what I do today. Breaking my leg sounded like a gun going off — and recovery was nowhere near as simple as I thought it would be, I thought I would make it to a party that night!

It was really Frustrating, Boring a lot of the time and I didn’t know if I would ever play rugby again. But I did. Now I help people like me recover from injury, I’ve got experience of that. The work I’ve done and support IU’ve had, puts me in a great place to help others.

Sciatic Pain Made it Impossible to Stand and Walk from Room to Room
Christine struggled with chronic hip and lower back pain, which worsened due to a severe sciatic nerve flare-up. The pain became so debilitating that she couldn’t stand up straight and, at times, even simple movements like getting up to use the toilet were a challenge.

How many KCR sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your individual needs and goals.
