Sciatic Pain Made it Impossible to Stand and Walk from Room to Room

“A general yoga class wouldn’t have given me the specialised support I needed. The level of expertise and personalised guidance made all the difference. If you’re thinking of working with Jo, DO IT. Make the commitment and find the time.”

Christine,

Primary Concern: Hip and lower back pain, aggravated by sciatic nerve issues

Additional History: Previous neck pain from a car accident and an old ankle injury from a break

Christine struggled with chronic hip and lower back pain, which worsened due to a severe sciatic nerve flare-up. The pain became so debilitating that she couldn’t stand up straight and, at times, even simple movements like getting up to use the toilet were a challenge.

Having tried a lot of different treatments in the past with limited success, she was looking for a solution that would relieve her pain but also restore her confidence in movement. Naturally she was unsure if the program would work.

In addition to her hip and lower back issues, Christine had a history of injuries, including neck pain from a past car accident and ankle pain from a previous break. While these areas required attention, the primary focus of her treatment was relieving her debilitating nerve pain and restoring mobility.

Why Christine Chose Strength & Soul

“People often recommended yoga to me, but I didn’t have the confidence to go to a class with my level of pain and lack of movement. I wanted 1:1 support from someone who understood my pain and past treatments.”

“If I had gone to a regular yoga class, I don’t think I would have received the same level of knowledge, guidance, and personalised adjustments. The support in this program has been invaluable.”

Christine had been recommended yoga many times but lacked the confidence to join a group class due to her level of pain and restricted movement. She wanted 1:1 support from someone who truly understood her injuries, recovery techniques and pain management.

“I’ll be honest, the financial commitment almost put me off, but having the option to break down payments made it more manageable. Now, having completed the program, I can confidently say it was worth every penny. A general yoga class wouldn’t have given me the specialised support I needed. The level of expertise and personalized guidance made all the difference.”

The Strength & Soul Approach: Christine’s Treatment Plan

Christine enrolled in the Hip & Lower Back Program, which included:
✔ 4 x 1:1 hands-on treatments
✔ 3 x 1:1 therapeutic yoga sessions
✔ A personalised at home yoga therapy program

Christine progressed steadily through the program, she experienced significant relief but opted to continue with additional support to maintain her progress and address other areas of pain and tension.

Her sessions focused on:

  • Realignment, Pain relief & nervous system reset – using techniques such as Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) and myofascial release to ease nerve compression.
  • Mobility improvement – gradually reintroducing safe yoga therapy movements tailored to her unique body and mobility level.
  • Nervous system reset practices – home practices to help reduce tension, provide pain relief and reset the nervous system
  • Strength & stability – working towards pain-free movement

Results: After the Program

“I have no pain in my hip and lower back. I’m standing straighter, moving more freely, and feeling much less stiff and tense.”

By the end of the program:
✔ Christine had no pain in her hip or lower back
✔ She was standing straighter and for longer periods
✔ Her mobility and flexibility had improved significantly
✔ She felt more in control of her body and confident in movement

Final Thoughts & Next Steps

Having no previous yoga experience Christine was naturally nervous about what to expect. While she still wants to focus on more strengthening postures, Christine’s main treatment plan was mobility and pain relief.  Christine’s journey is an inspiration to those who feel like they’ve tried everything, have no experience of yoga but want to take charge of their health and make improvements.

Kind Words from Christine

People often recommended yoga to me, but I didn’t have the confidence to go to a class with my levels of pain and lack of movement’

The benefit of the 1:1 treatment has been incredible, I’ll be honest it was a big financial commitment and that almost put me off, but being able to break down the payments was helpful and now having been through the program the commitment was well worth it.

If I had gone to a general yoga class I don’t think I would receive the support I needed and the teacher would unlikely have a fraction of the knowledge and expertise you have around my injury and pain and being able to assist.

If you’re thinking of working with Jo, DO IT. Make the commitment and find the time.”
